Why Jonquill?

Welcome to Jonquill!

I'm Jiayu, the founder of Jonquill. I'm here to share the story behind our mission and the passion that drives us forward.

As a queer individual myself, I've experienced the intricacies of self-discovery and acceptance. I witnessed and understand firsthand the unique challenges faced by queer youth, particularly in terms of mental health and well-being. I felt compelled to create a platform that could extend this support to others navigating similar experiences.

It was through these experiences that the seeds of Jonquill were planted. I realized the power self-care and mental health support could bring in navigating the complexities of our lives. Yet, I also recognized the gap in accessible resources tailored specifically for LGBTQ+ youth—resources that speak to the nuances of our intersecting identities and experiences.

Driven by the desire to fill this void, I created Jonquill. Our purpose is clear: we are dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and accessible space for LGBTQ+ youth on their journey to prioritize their mental health and well-being.

Here at Jonquill, you'll discover resources specifically curated to address a spectrum of multifaceted needs. Our blog offers an array of self-care activities, mindfulness exercises, coping strategies, and relaxation techniques tailored specifically for individuals like you and me—or perhaps a friend in need.

Whether you're grappling with the complexities of identity acceptance, confronting discrimination, or simply seeking guidance on cultivating a positive mindset, Jonquill is here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

Let's create a world where everyone feels valued, seen, and supported, regardless of who they are or who they love. Let’s embark on a Journey of Novelty, Queerness, Unity, Inclusivity, and Liberated Living (get it?). Ready? If so, follow us along! Your presence and voice matter more than you know.

With love and solidarity,

Jiayu
